There is no one path, no single bank of the river to seek refuge on as we navigate institutions that no longer serve us or a toxic culture that has become polarized. There is no single teacher who holds the wisdom of all our ancestors. There is no guru to save you. The heart doesn't need scaffolding. Our work together is about returning to the headwaters of the soul. A sacred place of new beginnings where with the right map and compass, a person can be reunited with their own sacred human design.
My work touches corporate leaders, philanthropists, founders, engineers, scientists, change makers, artists and athletes alike. All high achieving people seeking to bring both precision and softness to their lives. If you're stuck, I want to hear about it. All of it. I have probably been there.
This project was born of my own personal tragedy after the sudden death of our 18 year old son on the banks of the Snake River near our home in Jackson Hole in 2020. After over 20 years in finance, building several private equity firms, sitting on numerous corporate boards and putting myself into the gauntlet of actually running several public and private companies, I hit a brick wall. Without knowing it, I had gotten caught in a cycle of feeling the need to achieve to be worthy of love. In retrospect, I could have seen it coming. But the ego is a tricky ally to befriend and navigate life's journey. I had to unlearn almost everything I thought I knew. A humbling task.
I work with leaders who feel the limitations inherent in all their striving, and doing, and activating, and transacting and performing. All that precision is welcome, but let's find the softness together. I want you to stop feeling the need to hold everything, and develop a felt sense of what it feels like to be held. We tend to the soil of one's life and battle through the storms in search of rainbows. I don't do traditional leadership training, or classic psychotherapy. I simply model what it looks like to get out of your head and into your heart. I have put together an interdisciplinary framework for our engagement rooted in parts work, integral theory, psychotherapy, psychedelics, somatic and contemplative studies which serve to help a person construct one's own unique map and compass.
Healing as simply reuniting with one's own personal sovereignty.
The path of the Boddhisatva is often presented to us in the form of an impossible task, a reckoning of sorts that leads to the hero’s journey. I can’t think of a more impossible task than that of losing a child. It is like you are being dropped into the jungle with a machete but no map. I didn’t find the answers in the corridors of elite universities, corporate board rooms or the Wall Street trading floor; I found it in a most unlikely tribe of healers, storytellers, philosophers & psychonauts. I learned how to ask for help, something men are rarely trained to do. I want to connect other leaders with a community of teachers, mentors, healers, and mystics, committed to protecting the sacred and that inspire co-creation and new depths of contemporary thinking. I am dead serious about this endeavor. This isn’t just a bunch of woo-woo spirituality; it is a return to first principals of human design and human flourishing. It’s hard work. First you choose; then you stay the course; then you find the path to the heart. I view our role as to assemble a group of people who can bridge both the medical, the mystical, the sacred and the scientific in service to becoming guardians of humanity. Who are bridge builders as comfortable in the jungles as they are in the board room. I look forward to building this tribe together. Welcome to Headwaters.
